Jakarta-based female rapper, Ramengvrl, has released a new single titled Bombae. This single is a collaboration with Awich, a rapper from Japan.
Bombae is a hip-hop trap track, the music for this song was done by Mardial.
“I’ve been a fan of Awich for a long time. When we finally met in Japan, it was like magic—we instantly connected. Both of us always push boundaries as female artists in a male-dominated genre, and with this song, we want to lift up Asian hip-hop to the global level. We are very excited in Japan, and I hope the fans feel the vibes and maybe see it live in Indonesia or Japan later!” said Ramengvrl.
Bombae’s music video was shot in Jakarta, showing the closeness of Ramengvrl and Awich exploring the corners of Jakarta. Including tasting Padang rice cuisine.
Ramengvrl, whose real name is Putri Estiani, began her journey in the music world in 2017. She released her first single, I Am Me, which immediately caught the attention of hip-hop music lovers with its powerful lyrics and message of female empowerment.
Akiko Urasaki, Awich’s real name, started her career under the major label Universal Music Japan in 2020. Awich’s achievements have not only reached Japan, but also the international stage.
In 2023, she performed at Asian Sound Syndicate Vol.2 in Indonesia and Rolling Loud Thailand, a major music festival that also featured Cardi B and Lil Uzi Vert.
Before joining a major label, Awich made his debut in 2006 with the EP Inner Research and moved to Atlanta, United States (US). While living on the road, he produced his first full-length album, Asia Wish Child, and released it in 2007. (Z-1)
