Reaffirming its commitment to public health, the National Institute of Health celebrated its 30th anniversary

Asuncion, IP Agency.- Reaffirming its dedication to strengthening the public health system in Paraguay, the National Institute of Health (INS) celebrated its 30th anniversary on Tuesday in a ceremony that brought together representatives of multiple organizations, academics and officials.

INS Director General Cristina Caballero recalled the Institute’s beginnings and highlighted its evolution over these three decades. “Today we commemorate 30 years of commitment and work in training professionals who have promoted the well-being of our community,” she said during the opening ceremony.

The spokesperson for the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), Marcelo Korc, offered a video reflection on the challenges that health personnel in Paraguay will face in the future. He highlighted the importance of fostering skills that respond to the new demands of the sector and reaffirmed PAHO’s commitment to strengthening the INS.

The event was also attended by the Vice Minister of Health Management and Surveillance, José Ortellado, who highlighted the INS as a leader in the education and training of professionals in the health area, and emphasized the need to advance in clinical simulation. He stressed that the National Institute of Health is the main tool for training the professionals that the country needs.

The Vice Minister of Higher Education and President of the National Council of Higher Education (Cones), Federico Mora, highlighted the importance of the INS during the COVID-19 pandemic. He also reported on a new initiative by Cones to evaluate and improve the quality of educational programs in the health area, working closely with the INS.

At the end of the event, participants who are national authorities and special guests enjoyed a short concert offered by the National Police Band, in addition to the art exhibition entitled “Salud Arte”, which included works by 22 artists in honor of the INS.
