Lipetsk airfield – satellite image after strike appears – photo

On the night of August 9, the Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully struck an airfield in the Russian city of Lipetsk. Russian Service “Radio Freedom” published a satellite image from the NASA FIRMS surveillance system, which recorded a fire at an enemy military airfield.

The publication notes that NASA FIRMS data makes it clear that the Lipetsk Aviation Center was under attack. This is a structural division of the Russian Aerospace Forces, where the enemy retrains the flight and engineering personnel of combat units. In addition, this aviation center develops and implements methods for the combat use of aviation complexes.

Russian sources for Radio Liberty claim that all the planes that were at the airfield during the strike were saved. At the same time, according to NVmost of the aircraft based there did not manage to take off. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Su-34, Su-35 and MiG-31 were stationed there.

Also, sources of the Ukrainian publication reported that at the airfield in Lipetsk, in addition to airplanes and helicopters, more than 700 KABs were stored in ammunition depots.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the precise hit and destruction of one S-350 SAM radar has already been confirmed. As for other targets, the information is still being clarified. At the same time, the cessation of operation of all three enemy radars after the strikes was recorded.

To implement these tasks, units of the missile forces, special operations forces, forces and resources of the Security Service of Ukraine and unmanned systems forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were involved.
