On the night of August 9, the Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully struck an airfield in the Russian city of Lipetsk. Russian Service “Radio Freedom” published a satellite image from the NASA FIRMS surveillance system, which recorded a fire at an enemy military airfield.

The publication notes that NASA FIRMS data makes it clear that the Lipetsk Aviation Center was under attack. This is a structural division of the Russian Aerospace Forces, where the enemy retrains the flight and engineering personnel of combat units. In addition, this aviation center develops and implements methods for the combat use of aviation complexes.

Russian sources for Radio Liberty claim that all the planes that were at the airfield during the strike were saved. At the same time, according to NVmost of the aircraft based there did not manage to take off. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Su-34, Su-35 and MiG-31 were stationed there.
