Deputy Minister of Agriculture (Wamentan) Sudaryono invited farmers in Boyolali Regency, Central Java, to oversee the implementation of government programs such as the addition of planting areas (PAT) through pumping. He hopes that Boyolali will become the highest rice production barn in Indonesia.
“We came here to directly review the pumping program. Alhamdulillah, Boyolali has achieved 77%,” explained Sudaryono in a written statement, Friday (16/8).
He claims the PAT program in Central Java is running quite well. On average, farmers plant more than once a year.
“Let’s monitor the addition of this planting area so that what was previously planted once, becomes twice, and what was two becomes three. We want to push it until early August, at most until mid-September. Currently, we are providing water through pumping,” he said.
For information, the PAT program in Boyolali Regency has a target area of 5,470 hectares. Until now, the total that has been realized has reached 4,222 hectares or 77.19%.
In the same place, Assistant II of Boyolali Regency Government, Isnan Adi Asmono said the pumping program has been running well. The water pumps distributed to farmers have reached 156 units.
“The pumps distributed in Boyolali have now reached 156 units. Irrigation Pumping received 40 units of assistance, and currently its implementation has reached 60 percent so that the peak of the dry season in late August and early September can be mitigated,” he said. (Fal/Z-11)
