Asuncion, IP Agency.- Starting this Monday, August 12, the National Police Identification Department is open 24 hours a day, as part of a “pilot plan” to speed up procedures or withdraw documents.
Commissioner Milciades León explained that, given the needs that exist in the Department, as the entity in charge of issuing identity documents, it was decided to extend the service to 24 hours a day.
The objective is to provide a response to the large number of people who come to Identificaciones every day to request the issuance of their identity card, passport and police record.
This measure is in anticipation of the approach of the peak summer holiday season, following the recent passing of the winter holidays.
He said that this is a “pilot plan” that could be expanded as needed. He said that the process will be analyzed depending on the circumstances to see if 24-hour service is implemented or if the original schedule is returned.
He clarified that 24-hour service will be implemented only at the central office, not at the regional offices. He said that only at the central office there is the capacity to extend the hours, while the regional offices do not have the necessary equipment for extended hours.
