Asuncion, IP Agency.- The Minister of Economy and Finance, Carlos Fernández Valdovinos, announced that the final version of the civil service law would be ready this week, after the process of dialogue with the various interested sectors. He also announced other laws that aim to consolidate the macroeconomic strengthening of the country.
The minister said that, regardless of the recent acquisition of investment grade, Paraguay needs to advance in reforms that consolidate its macroeconomic stability.
“We are going to continue with the economic plan that we had before, because at the macroeconomic level I think we need to continue making some reforms,” he said in a radio interview.
In this regard, he announced that he plans to present the final version of the civil service law this week, which has been analyzed and agreed upon with various sectors over the past few months.
“This law will be important to have a clear overview of public finances, and will provide clarity, transparency, and predictability regarding the career of all public servants,” the minister had assured in March of this year, in one of the public hearings held on the project.
Fernández said that after presenting this project, the Executive will focus on other reforms that include not only the Treasury but also a new Public-Private Partnership law and a new Insurance Superintendency law, among others.
All these laws are aimed at consolidating the macroeconomic stability that allowed the country to achieve investment grade, which “is not a final goal,” according to the minister.
“I think we have to continue to do whatever is necessary to ensure that Paraguay continues to stand out at a regional and global level. The important thing is that all of this benefits the people and is not just a nice story published by multilateral organizations,” he added.
