South American runners-up: Chile qualified for the Under 16 Women’s Tennis World Cup

He U16 women’s team of our country achieved the classification to the Billie Jean King Cupthe world championship of the category, which will be held in Antalya, Turkey, during the month of November.

Agustina Soto, Camila Rodero, Carmenluz Calderoncaptained by Wladimir Santana, achieved second place in the South American Under 16 Championship held last week in Lima, Peru.

The national team was part of Group B, starting with a 1-2 defeat against Paraguay and then beating Uruguay 2-1.

In their third match, Chile defeated Ecuador 3-0 to end this phase with a great 3-0 victory over Argentina.

The national team won its group and advanced to the final where it faced Brazil, losing 0-2 (the doubles match was not played), taking the runner-up title.

This way, Chile achieved its third qualification for a women’s World Cup in this categoryThey had previously achieved this in 2021 and 2022.

THE MEN FINISHED EIGHTH

The men’s team, made up of Carlos Silva, Benjamin Perez and Leon Achurracaptained by José Luis Bravo, finished in eighth place in the South American.

In the group stage, Chile lost 0-3 to Ecuador, 0-3 to Brazil, 1-2 to Bolivia and finished with a 3-0 victory over Uruguay.

With these results, the national team played the match for seventh place against Colombia, losing 0-2 (the doubles match was not played).
