For over ten years, Christiane has been fighting valiantly against breast cancer. Operations, treatments, chemo… The fighter’s journey began in 2001 and continues in fits and starts, with relapses and periods of remission. “I’m already busy enough fighting the disease, I shouldn’t have to worry about problems with reimbursement for my medication,” laments the fifty-year-old from Gannat, in Allier.
Since March 2023, Christiane has started a new treatment protocol including a generic drug that she cannot tolerate due to strong side effects. “Since my wife is taking the non-substitutable drug, health insurance refuses to reimburse us for the remaining cost. For us, these costs represent a cost of 2,200 euros per year and it is a drug that she must take for life… This can quickly weigh on the finances. Especially since our mutual insurance company also refuses to reimburse us. We do not understand how in a country like ours this is still possible,” laments her husband Philippe.
