The MNA had been missing since armed men attacked a convoy on New Shadiwal Road near Gujranwala on July 31 and escaped from the custody of the Anti-Corruption Establishment.

The anti-corruption establishment had arrested the member of the National Assembly on the charge of taking Rs 20 lakh commission in the development scheme.

In a recent session of the National Assembly, Leader of the Opposition Umar Ayub Khan said that Haji Imtiaz Ahmed has been declared an ‘enforced missing person’.

Addressing the speaker, Umar Ayub asked who is torturing him, the intelligence agencies or someone else? Mr. Speaker, as the custodian of the House, the responsibility rests on you.

In response, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq told PTI lawmakers that he had been told by the police that Imtiaz Ahmed was neither in his custody nor in the custody of the anti-corruption establishment.

Meanwhile, on the occasion, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also assured the opposition members that he would personally look into the matter of the alleged disappearance of Haji Imtiaz Ahmed.

It may be noted that Haji Imtiaz Ahmed was elected as an independent candidate (supported by PTI) in the general elections held on February 8, before he was elected MNA for the first time on a PTI ticket in 2018. were
