Kyiv “Dynamo” drew with Scottish “Rangers” in the first match of the third qualifying round Champions League of the 2024/25 season. The match at “Arena Lublin” in Polish Lublin ended with a score of 1:1.
At the start of the meeting, Oleksandr Shovkovskyi’s team actively attacked the opponent’s goal and were close to opening the score in the 18th minute. “Rangers” goalkeeper Jack Butland deflected Kostyantyn Vyvcharenko’s long shot in front of him, and Vladyslav Vanat headed the ball into the goal, but he did it from offside.
Three minutes later, the vice-champion of Scotland responded with a dangerous moment of his own. Ross McCausland moved from the right wing to the center and hit the far post with a shot from outside the penalty area.
And yet, “Dynamo” took the lead at the break. In the 38th minute, Kyiv took the lead after a great combination. Oleksandr Karavaev won the ball in the center of the field, beat one opponent and passed to Vanat, who executed a cross from the right wing, which Andriy Yarmolenko closed into an empty net.
