G. Danėlias, the lawyer who defended R. Kurlianskis, is threatened with 75 thousand. EUR fine and temporary loss of employment as a lawyer

The General Prosecutor’s Office requests that G. Danėlių be found guilty under four articles of the Criminal Code, which provide for liability for possible illegal disclosure or use of information about a person’s private life, possible abuse, as well as possible threat to a civil servant and obstruction of the official’s activities, and to award the lawyer 75,000. euro fine.

Taking into account the fact that G. Danėlius committed a possible criminal act while performing his duties as a lawyer, the state prosecutor, Prosecutor of the General Prosecutor’s Office Rimas Juodis requests that D. Danėlius be sentenced along with a measure of criminal impact – deprivation of the right to practice law for a period of five years.

G. Danėlius defended Raimondas Kurlianskis, the former vice-president of MG Baltic, who was sentenced to six years in prison for political corruption by the Court of Appeal this week, as well as Kęstutis Tubis, the mayor of Anykščiai, who was completely acquitted by the Supreme Court due to influence-peddling.

G. Danėlius, along with two other lawyers and a businessman who are being tried together with him, denied their guilt both during the investigation and in court.
