41 migrants from India, Nepal and Ecuador rescued from a house in southern Mexico

A man reported that he, his wife and his minor son were kidnapped and that the alleged criminals demanded a large amount of money to release them, according to the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Oaxaca.

The authorities responded to citizens’ complaints about the situation in the municipal agency of San Martín Mexicapan, but did not clarify whether the migrants were kidnapped or simply waiting to continue their journey to northern Mexico.

Two men and a woman were arrested in a home by members of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Attention to High-Impact Crimes and the State Investigation Agency (AEI), and are at the disposal of the corresponding authority to determine their legal situation.

The State Attorney General’s Office (FGEO) managed to free 41 migrants, of which 35 are from India, five from Nepal and one from Ecuador, who were locked in rooms of a house.
