THE BUDGET for the celebration of the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia is known to have swelled from the previous year. This is because this year’s celebration will be held in two places, namely in Jakarta and the Capital City of the Archipelago (IKN) in East Kalimantan.
PDIP spokesman Chico Hakim criticized the swelling budget for the celebration of the Republic of Indonesia’s Independence Day. Chico said the celebration held in two places was the same as a waste of budget.
He also said that it was a portrait of President Joko Widodo’s insensitivity at the end of his term. Especially considering the fact that the people’s economy is now increasingly difficult.
“That’s wasteful. A portrait of President Joko Widodo’s insensitivity at the end of his term to the suffering and hardships that the people are facing related to the many mass layoffs, the high price of basic necessities, the high cost of college,” Chico told Indonesian MediaSaturday (10/8).
The increased budget for the Indonesian Independence Day celebration was previously acknowledged by President Joko Widodo. According to him, the budget increase was reasonable because this year’s Indonesian Independence Day celebration was held in Jakarta and the IKN.
“Yes, the name used to be only in one place. This is because there is a transition so that it becomes in two places. But, it’s not a leap. I think this is normal, reasonable and also the budget is in the Ministry of State Secretariat,” said President Jokowi in Jakarta, some time ago.
Previously, the public highlighted the rental of 1,000 luxury cars for Rp25 million per day for the needs of state guests and facilities to meet very very important person (VVIP) guests. The public considered the rental and procurement of facilities to be very large and only squandered the state budget. (J-2)
