The nomination papers of Vice Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi from Multan have been rejected. Appellate Tribunal Multan judge Justice Sardar Mohammad Sarfaraz Dogar while pronouncing the decision disqualified Shah Mehmood Qureshi from contesting the election.
The documents were rejected due to lack of original signature on the affidavit.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi submitted nomination papers in NA 150, 151, pp 218 pp 219.
The Appellate Tribunal Multan has accepted the nomination papers of Zain Qureshi and Mehrabano Qureshi from NA 150 and 151.
It should be noted that PTI’s senior leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi was allowed to contest the election from NA-214 Umarkot yesterday.
His son Zain Qureshi’s nomination papers were also approved from NA-214.
A day earlier, the Multan Appellate Tribunal had dismissed the objections filed by former foreign minister and senior PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi, son Zain Qureshi and daughter Mehr Bano Qureshi and fixed them for hearing on January 6.
The ROs rejected the papers on the basis of the affidavits of Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Zain and Mehrabano Qureshi and non-original signature of Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
The Multan Judicial Office had sent the papers of the returning officers to the senior judge objecting to the order rejecting the nomination being signed.
Multan Appellate Tribunal judge Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar issued notices to the returning officers on the appeals.
