The international rating agency Scope Ratings predicts growth of the Greek economy by 2.2% for 2024 in its report.
Scope was the first international rating agency to upgrade Greece (BBB- with a stable outlook) to investment grade in August 2023. Scope’s report sends a strong message that Greece continues to grow and that it has put the financial crisis behind it. past years.
Growth twice that of the eurozone
Scope’s baseline forecast for growth is 2.2% next year and 2.3% in 2025 after estimating 2.1% this year. The forecast for growth is double the 1.1% for the eurozone in 2024.
The Greek economy is outperforming as increased household consumption continues, supported by unemployment which we forecast will fall to 9.2% on average next year, the lowest average since 2008.
Debt reduction
Scope also expects an increase in exports alongside a continued recovery in the tourism sector.
According to ifimerida, debt continued to decline in 2023 and is expected to reach 141% of GDP by 2028, with Greece maintaining primary surpluses in the years to come.
