Paris 2024 Olympics – Modern Pentathlon: Élodie Clouvel in the lead after a perfect first day

She couldn’t have done better to show that she was in the running, back in the forefront after long months of doubts. For her first day of competition at the Paris Olympic Games, Élodie Clouvel came out on top at the end of the modern pentathlon fencing ranking round. With 27 wins for only 8 losses, the athlete from Saint-Étienne even achieved the best result of her career in this ranking round.

It’s a perfect day, honestly incrediblereacts Élodie Clouvel. I was sublime. I was in my bubble, the “Elo de compét” that I love. With all this audience singing when I arrive on the track, it’s incredible and magical. To be honest, I didn’t even pay attention to the results today, I only saw them at the end. I just had fun, I’m in it. This day was magical because all my loved ones are there, my whole family is with me. Hearing all this French audience shouting my name, it totally moved me. It had never happened to me and frankly, it was beautiful. I feel like this is the moment I’ve been waiting for all these years, after having worked so hard to participate in these Games at home. It’s fabulous. I’m now going to rest well because in modern pentathlon, nothing is ever finished. You have to stay humble despite my performance.
