The president of the National Association of Supermarkets and Self-Service Stores (ANSA), Ítalo Atencio, spoke on Tuesday about the supply situation in the country.
During an interview with Televen, Atencio said he hopes the flow of consumers will be regulated by midweek.
In this regard, the president of Ansa assured the supply in all supermarkets, emphasizing that in some cases there was an increase in prices, however, the situation has already been corrected.
He also pointed out that “today we have a much better situation than we had last week” after the presidential elections.

He also pointed out that last Wednesday, July 31, a Council of Attention and Safety for Supermarkets and Pharmacies was held with various companies and associations of the country; where they agreed to attack the shortages and other problems that affected the good commercial development.
Atencio said that by the middle of this week, product availability is expected to be completely normal, as is the influx of consumers.
Closing of supermarkets
Regarding the closure of some supermarkets at the beginning of the week, the ANSA president said that it was due to the low attendance of employees. “The workers were very nervous, from what they heard and saw,” he said.
However, he said that by the end of the week the situation had improved. “From Wednesday we started to have more staff; and today the workers, for the most part, came to work on the chains as they normally do.”
He also commented on some price increases: “It happened temporarily with some proteins,” he said; however, he also pointed out that they held a meeting with poultry representatives in order to resolve the irregularity.
Finally, the national representative of supermarkets and self-service stores urged consumers to remain calm in the face of unstable scenarios, assuring them that the institution he presides is capable of guaranteeing supplies.
“We are here fulfilling our purpose, supplying food, health products, cleaning products and other household products 365 days a year,” he stressed.
