ON the worst day for the Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) this year, Monday (6/8), foreign investors actually took the opportunity to buy up 10 leading stocks.

The JCI was recorded to have experienced a significant decline to touch its lowest level throughout 2024 of more than 4% on Monday (5/8), and closed down 3.4% to 7,059.65.

The index transaction value at the end of yesterday’s trading reached around Rp14.25 trillion with a transaction volume of 24.94 billion shares and has been transacted 1.35 million times. A total of 62 stocks strengthened, 592 stocks weakened, and 134 stocks were stable.

Foreign investors recorded a net sell of Rp508.02 billion across all markets, including Rp605.94 billion in the regular market. On the other hand, in the negotiated and cash markets, foreign investors recorded a net buy of Rp97.92 billion.

However, in the midst of this situation, foreign investors actually carried out a net sell action on several major stocks. Some of the stocks that were most bought up by foreign investors included BBRI, BBNI, BMRI, TLKM, and BRIS.

This shows foreign investors’ confidence in the long-term prospects of these stocks, even though the JCI is currently in a declining condition.

This buying action is considered an investment strategy to take advantage of falling stock prices, with the hope that there will be a recovery in the long term. On the other hand, analysts warn that sluggish market conditions and negative sentiment could continue, so investors need to be careful and remain aware of the risks.

Reporting from RTI Business, here is a list of the 10 stocks most purchased by foreign investors:

  1. BBRI (People’s Bank of Indonesia)
  2. BBNI (State Bank of Indonesia)
  3. BMRI (Bank Mandiri)

  5. BRIS (Indonesian Sharia Bank)
