2024-08-05 14:14:26

The local management of Shapeways BV continues the 3D printing activities together with the two former co-founders. Currently, the project is completed under the name of Manuevo BV. Jules Witte, former plant manager of the Eindhoven branch and current COO of Manuevo, said that he and the team are motivated to prove that the Eindhoven 3D printing company can operate independently.

Last weekend, the curators in charge of the bankruptcy wrote in their first report that the possibility of a restart exists. There are multiple bidders, both for the entire company and for some of its assets. Now it has been decided to continue with the plans of the former employees. Co-founder.

Customers reacted unanimously to the reboot

Independent success

Jules Witte said: “The Eindhoven team has been delivering high-quality parts with a personalised service for many years, something our customers have missed over the past month. We are excited about a fresh start with the support of many returning customers, whose unanimously positive reaction is heartwarming. The team has been particularly motivated to prove that we can be successful independently.” According to the relauncher, Shapeways has been mired in the bankruptcy of its US parent company. To date, the Eindhoven company has 3D printed around 16 million products.

Falling into bankruptcy in the United States

This can also be seen from the curator’s report. It is understood that the reasons for the bankruptcy of Shapeways NL stem from the problems that already existed in the US (listed) Shapeways company. Shapeways Holdings and Shapeways, Inc. have filed for bankruptcy under Chapter 7 of the US Bankrupt Code. Bankrupt is heavily dependent on Shapeways, Inc., which is also Bankrupt’s only customer (all end customers are contracted with Shapeways, Inc.). Due to the US bankruptcy, the management expected that they would no longer be able to pay wages and other debts in the Netherlands. This is why they filed for bankruptcy in the Netherlands.

In 2021, Shapeways BV had a turnover of more than 8.8 million euros and a performance of 2.2 million euros; in 2022, the turnover was 8.89 million euros and the performance remained basically stable. According to the curator’s report, last year’s turnover increased significantly to 9.7 million euros, but the loss exceeded 500,000 euros.

Maneuverability Positioning itself as a flexible, on-demand manufacturer, Manuevo offers high-quality additive manufacturing services and end-to-end production solutions for prototypes and finished parts.
