The Director General of Consumer Protection and Trade Order (PKTN) of the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag), Moga Simatupang, said that the results of the findings of illegal imported goods today will be handed over to industry to be used as fuel.

“Industry needs fuel, one of which is from the confiscated balpres and textile rolls,” said Moga when met in Cikarang, West Java on Tuesday (6/8).

He said the industry may take the confiscated goods for free. However, there is still a process that must be carried out and under the supervision of Civil Servant Investigators (PPNS), and the Police.

“They just bring it. But there is still a process. If the goods are at the Police, the process goes through the Police. If the goods are at Customs, the process goes through Customs,” explained Moga.

The reason for handing over the found goods to the industry is because the Illegal Import Task Force does not have enough budget for the mobilization and destruction of these goods. Therefore, the Illegal Import Task Force cooperates with the industrial sector in the country for destruction, and can be used by the industry as fuel for balpres and textile rolls.

“If we enumerate, it will require costs. This task force was formed ad hoc only yesterday so we do not have funds for mobilization and destruction. For that, we are collaborating with industry for destruction. Industry needs fuel, one of which is from the confiscated balpres and textile rolls. This can be used as industrial fuel,” said Moga.

Regarding the discovery of illegal electronic goods, Moga admitted there was no other choice but to destroy them all. (Z-11)
