Find out where US air cargo will be routed to Venezuela

The president of the Association of Cargo and Customs Agencies of Venezuela, Asocav, Gretsy Marín, spoke on Tuesday about air cargo from the United States to Venezuela.

According to an interview with Unión Radio, Marín said that US air cargo to Venezuela that came through Panama is being redirected mainly through Bogotá, Colombia.

This is due to the temporary suspension of flights to the Dominican Republic and Panama.

Air cargo from the US to Venezuela

For this reason, airlines transporting cargo from the US to Venezuela “took precautions and routed through the airports that are included in their planning or agreements with other airlines.”

“It is possible that a large part of the cargo that was in transit to Panama and was headed to Venezuela is already routed to Bogotá, which could result in a few additional days of waiting.”

However, he believes that this contingency “will not cause major traffic jams in Bogotá.”

He stressed that the volume of imports in Venezuela “has improved in recent years, but is still much lower than what we had years ago.”

He also explained that there are other ways to bring goods from the US into the country, for example through airlines that fly constantly between Europe and Venezuela and that could be an alternative, although it implies an adjustment in costs.
