A sad ending: the body of the last missing woman was identified. The IDF announced that it was able to identify the body of Belha Yanon from Netiv Hathara. Since the massacre in the kibbutz there were indications that she was murdered in the same massacre as her husband Yaakov, but her body was not identified and the two’s house was completely burned down.
For many months, Belha Yanon was nicknamed “the last missing person”, her body was not identified, but she was also not identified as having been kidnapped to Gaza and there were no indications of her presence or the presence of her body there.

Three of them entered using parachutes and went on a killing spree in the street where Belha and her husband Yaakov Yanon lived. He himself was murdered in the massacre and his body was identified. The house itself suffered a direct hit and the family members also estimated that the two couples did not survive the attack.

In interviews they gave to the media, the family members said that their parents entered the MMD and corresponded with them from inside. The father of the family Yaakov wrote that he and his wife were sitting in the MMD and that the house was locked but they heard lots of gunshots and rockets. From 7:45 the couple were no longer connected and answered the family members.
Since the outbreak of the war, the IDF, the personnel division in particular and the abductees headquarters at the AMN, have been conducting an extensive investigative effort in the framework of which various teams have been operating, in a variety of fields, in order to find out what happened to the late Belha Yanon. As part of this activity, findings were recently located in the area of her home, which after a complex examination and deciphering procedure, her identification can be confirmed.
An expert committee of the Ministry of Health, with the participation of representatives of the IDF investigation team, representatives of the National Institute of Forensic Medicine, the Israel Police and in cooperation with the Shishim Lezion Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef Shalita, determined based on a combination of findings, that the late Belha Yanon was murdered on the seventh of October.
Her daughter wrote on Memorial Day: “Mother, a sensitive and kind-hearted woman, an artist, art teacher, and educator. Over the years, she always studied and developed professionally and personally, was a qualified parent facilitator on behalf of the “Adler Institute” and engaged in various volunteer activities in the regional council. At the age of 56, she took early retirement, established A studio where she created, worked and taught – mainly around “The Mandala Way”. Her studio was open to everyone – of any age and in any situation.”
“On the morning of Saturday 7/10, they were murdered and burned together, inside their house, of which only the floor remained. We have comfort that the fire stopped at the door of mother’s studio – it remained intact and inside it was the treasure of her creation.”
