Luis Grijalva is, at 25 years old, the best exponent that Guatemala has had in the athletics discipline of the 5 thousand meters.

No other Guatemalan athlete had ever qualified for an Olympic final and he achieved it in Tokyo 2020 when he finished in 12th place with a time of 13:10.09 on August 6, 2021.

Three years later, Grijalva will once again try to put his name among the best in the world as he competes in a new edition of the Olympic Games.

It will be in the early hours of August 7 that Luis Miguel Grijalva will step onto the athletics track at the Stade de France to compete in the qualifying heat where he will fight alongside 20 other athletes to be one of the best 8 times to advance to the final, which will be held on August 10 (11:50 am).

Grijalva is also a regular at Diamond League events, the most important athletics league in the world, in which he runs under the sponsorship of the Hoka One One team.

In the Diamond League, which takes place in different countries around the world, Grijalva has broken national records and has even stood on the podium, on the date that took place in June 2024 and won bronze in the 3,000 meters with a time of 7:33.96.
