Summer EBT will offer food subsidies to children

In order to guarantee balanced nutrition to the little ones in the house, the program Summer EBT will offer a $120 subsidy to Illinois families.

It is important to note that this initiative is for a limited time, as it will only be available during the summer season.

The bonus will be deposited into the EBT cards of the holders, regardless of the immigration status of each applicant, Univisión reported.

Requirements to be eligible for Summer EBT

Like other EBT programs associated with funding meals, the Summer EBT has a number of requirements.

They stand out among them:

  • That the minors who will enjoy the support are of school age and, therefore, are enrolled in the educational system
  • The family group must have a salary that qualifies for the federal poverty level
  • Likewise, interested parties must register for the EBT Program through the school facilities where the minor is studying.
  • It is also important to note that if the household already receives government incentives such as Snap or Medicare, they must confirm their home address.

Other details

Furthermore, it is important to note that the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) has its own online assessment questionnaire.

All this in order to verify if the applicant is eligible for the Summer EBT or if the registration has already been endorsed by another program.

This questionnaire must be completed with:

  • Birthdate
  • Social Security number
  • School District Number

Interested parties have the opportunity to apply for EBT benefits until August 31 of this year.
