POLRI admitted that there were findings of human trafficking cases (TPPO) employed as online gambling operators abroad. This was known from the investigation of the TPPO case.

“Currently, what we have received is (victims of TPPO who have become online gambling operators),” said the Director of General Crimes (Dirtipidum) of the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Brigadier General Djuhandani Rahardjo Puro to reporters quoted on Tuesday (6/8).

However, Djuhandani did not mention the country where the victim became the online gambling operator. The one-star general also could not reveal the number of TPPO victims who became online gambling operators.

“If there are several people, the data will have to be opened again. But, what is clear is that there have been cases and there have also been cases that we have revealed further, both related to TPPO,” said Djuhandani.

In addition, Djuhandani emphasized that the police always conduct investigations related to TPPO whenever they receive reports. In addition, the Police are also said to continue to coordinate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other ministries regarding the handling of human trafficking.

“Even if there is a repatriation, we always carry out an in-depth investigation,” he said.

Previously, investigators from the Criminal Investigation Directorate of the National Police examined Benny Rhamdani twice at the Criminal Investigation Department Building. This examination was to dig up the figure of T who was said to be the controller of online gambling. In fact, T is said to be a person who is untouchable by the law.

However, after two examinations on Monday, July 29 and Monday, August 5, 2024, Benny could not explain the figure of T. Benny initially admitted that he received information regarding someone with the initials T from migrant workers in Cambodia and corrected that he received the information from the Head of BP2MI Serang Joko Purwanto who has now passed away.

Benny also could not prove the figure of T. Thus, the Police stated that the information about the online gambling controller with the initials T was not proven to exist. The Police also could not dig deeper into Benny, because the source of the information had died.

“There is no evidence, even the initial T cannot be mentioned by the person concerned,” said Djuhandhani at the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit, South Jakarta after Benny’s examination, Monday (5/8). (P-5)
