How does orgasm affect pregnancy?

Dr. Hatem Mohamed Hassan, a consultant in obstetrics and gynecology at the National Research Center, stated that orgasm is the peak of sexual pleasure and occurs as a result of sexual interaction between partners. Its benefits are numerous, the most notable of which include enhancing feelings of happiness and psychological comfort, strengthening the bond between spouses, and increasing emotional connection.

Hatem added that orgasm contributes to improved overall health by releasing hormones that help alleviate stress.

He emphasized that orgasms do not have any adverse effects on pregnancy as long as it is progressing normally without complications or medical issues that require caution, affirming that sexual activity does not pose risks to pregnancy or the fetus during its early stages.

The gynecology and obstetrics consultant continued by noting that the uterine contractions that occur during orgasm are typically mild and temporary and do not impact the fetus. He highlighted that the body is naturally programmed to protect the fetus, which is safeguarded within the amniotic sac and fluid.

Hatem further explained that during orgasm, the body releases hormones such as oxytocin and endorphins. These hormones promote feelings of happiness and relaxation, do not negatively impact pregnancy, and may even be beneficial for pregnant women as they help reduce stress and anxiety.
