Senior Israeli officials believe that the phone call that Bagheri-Kani made to the Hungarian foreign minister was “part of an Iranian attempt to obtain international legitimacy for the attack on Israel and to mitigate the international community’s condemnation of such an attack,” as Hungary holds the rotating presidency of the European Union, according to the Hebrew website “Walla.”

According to the Israeli website, the acting Iranian Foreign Minister summoned “a group of Western ambassadors to the Foreign Ministry in Tehran and conveyed the same message to them.”

Walla quoted an Israeli official as saying, “The Hungarian Foreign Minister informed his Israeli counterpart, Israel Katz, that the Iranian Foreign Minister contacted him and informed him clearly and unambiguously that Iran has decided to attack Israel.”

During the phone call, Katz thanked his Hungarian colleague and stressed that “the recent incident began as a result of Hezbollah firing on Majdal Shams, which led to the killing of 12 children,” while the party had denied responsibility for this attack, stressing that the fall of an Israeli interceptor missile was what caused the deaths of the children.

“Since October 7, Iran has activated all its terrorist organizations to shoot at and harm Israel, and has also attacked Israel itself. The European Union and the international community must make Iran pay a heavy price for every act of aggression it carries out,” Katz added to Szijjarto.

Katz stressed that “the Iranian move must not pass without a strong reaction from the world and that Israel has full legitimacy to defend itself.”

Today, Israeli Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi conducted a joint assessment of the situation with the Commander of the US Central Command, General Michael Kurilla, and coordinated with him “joint assessments in the region, as part of the response to threats in the Middle East.”

At 21:30 Israel time, President Biden will conduct a situation assessment at the White House regarding the escalation in the Middle East and preparations for an Iranian attack.

Thus, the region is living on a hot plate amidst a state of anticipation of a possible Iranian response to the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in the capital, Tehran, after the “Iranian Revolutionary Guard” pointed the finger of accusation at Tel Aviv for its involvement in the crime and involved Washington in this matter.

In addition to the great anticipation of the possibility of the conflict between the Lebanese factions and Israel expanding into a comprehensive war, following the assassination of Fouad Shukr in an Israeli raid on the southern suburbs of Beirut.

Recently, Israeli media spoke about readiness and preparation to confront any possible attack on the country, whether from Iran, Lebanese factions, or others.
