Pakistan plans to create a new WhatsApp-style app to protect itself from hacking.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has approved a project to develop a WhatsApp-style app for civil servants, a pilot project of which will be launched in the next few weeks.

This project has been set up in view of the apprehension of hacking of WhatsApp and telephone messages of government officials, through which the officials working in government departments will be able to have secure communication.

According to the IT Ministry, the WhatsApp application will also continue to work for government officials and ordinary Pakistanis. The National IT Board is working on the government app project, the pace of work has been affected due to the Corona epidemic.

The Ministry of Information Technology says that through this new application, government documents and contacts will be secured. Sharing government data through WhatsApp is insecure. There will be features.

Sources say that in the next three weeks the trial of this new app will begin in other departments including the IT Ministry, while in 3 months it will be available for general government use.

According to the sources, this project of e-government consists of one and a half billion rupees, under this, the exchange of files between government departments has started to be done on computers without internet instead of paper.

Sources say that legislation is also being drafted to protect the data of ordinary citizens, through which the use of WhatsApp will be secured for citizens. Important data will not be allowed outside Pakistan.
