Students of Pakistan National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) have developed Pakistan’s first urban electric car, which will be presented at an international competition (Technofest Efficiency Challenge) in Turkey at the end of September.

In this competition, teams of undergraduates from different countries of the world bring their own vehicles and the best team is given an award and a certificate.

In this regard, Saad Shafiq, a student of ‘Team Invasion Nest’ told Independent Urdu that ‘The project of making urban electric cars started in 2009 and since then we have made a total of 17 cars. However, compared to modern electric vehicles, the new car has the ability to charge up to 200 km in a short time, which are also environmentally friendly. The urban electric car has been named Azad E.

Zainab Gibran is the Marketing Head of Team Invasion. He told Independent Urdu that ‘Azad e-Car was completed in a period of about one year, in which there were many difficulties in terms of funds.’

He further said that plastic, glass, iron and fiber have been used in making this vehicle.
