Feyenoord wins trophy after spectacular performance against PSV

The duel in the sold-out Philips Stadium was not even ten minutes old when Feyenoord had to chase. However, that was also the last time of the evening. After Santiago Gimenez’s equalizer (penalty), the team of trainer Brian Priske took the lead no less than three times, but PSV equalized just as often.

Timon Wellenreuther saved Johan Bakayoko’s penalty in the penalty shootout that followed immediately after the end of regular playing time. Because Guus Til also missed and four Feyenoord players made no mistake from the penalty spot, the fifth Johan Cruijff Shield win (formerly Super Cup) in the club’s history was a fact.
