Historic moments for Greek sports in Paris, with Emmanuel Karalis giving Greece its 6th medal in this year’s event.

It is the 31st medal won by Greek athletics in the history of the Olympic Games and 128th overall.

Karalis showed from his first jump that he is in a terrible condition and confirmed it by reaching 5.90m. without having a failed attempt.

The Greek sprinter then tried for the Pan-Hellenic record (which he holds at 5.93m) and a higher place than third, but failed, furiously celebrating his historic success.

World record holder Mundo Duplantis won the pole vault gold medal, while American Sam Kendricks won silver.

Emmanuel Karalis started the race very impressively, passing with the first attempt 5.50m, 5.70m, 5.80m, 5.85m. and the 5.90 m.

He then failed in his first attempt at 5.95m, which he decided to leave, to try his luck at 6.00m. His two attempts there were unsuccessful, but 5.90m was enough to put him on the podium.
