Vanessa Kamga’s super form continues even during the Olympics in Paris. Earlier in July, she broke Anna Söderberg’s Swedish record – which had stood for 25 years – when she threw 65.09 metres.
Last Friday, she struck with a new super throw of 65.14 meters and thus improved the Swedish record.

Pinned down pretty quickly
And even in tonight’s Olympic final, she showed good form. Her first throw measured 65.05 and put her in the lead for a while.
– Incredible! I have found a completely new level, she tells SVT Sport.
But the lead did not last long. A little while later, the Chinese Bin Feng threw 66.33 and passed Kamga. Before the final was over, three more had thrown further.
American victory
In the end, it was thus a fifth place for Kamga, in exactly 65.05.
– It’s crazy to enter this Olympics, and now I can leave here and dream of medals in the future. It feels so damn good, says Kamga.
The USA’s Valarie Allman won in 69.50. The silver went to the said Feng and the bronze to the Croatian Sandra Elkasevic.
