The association Fri worried after stabbing in Oslo

Four teenagers are charged with grievous bodily harm. Two of them are 17 years old, the other two are 14 and 15 years old. The two oldest were remanded in custody for a week on Saturday.

– We as a society have to deal with this hatred towards queers, it comes from somewhere, says Marianne Gulli in the association Fri in Oslo to NRK.

Fri is the association for queer people in Norway, and is a provider of premises for LGBT politics. Fri stands for “The Association for Gender and Sexuality Diversity”.

– If the police are on the right track, then it is serious that such young people feel such hatred towards queers. Then we as a society have also failed these children, if they feel such hatred at such a young age, says Gulli.

The stabbing took place on Tjuvholmen on the night of Saturday. Two men in their 20s were attacked at the outdoor restaurant at Bølgen and Moi. One of the men has knife injuries, the other another bodily injury, according to the police. They are not life-threateningly injured.

Police prosecutor Nina Henrichson Kresse says the investigation seeks to clarify whether the two were attacked because of their sexual orientation, in which case it is a hate crime.

There is no known relationship between the two victims and the four suspects.
