Aerosmith have decided to retire from touring and the music scene in general, marking the end of an iconic era.

The legendary rock band has announced it will stop touring due to singer Steven Tyler’s serious vocal cord injuries.

“In 1970, a spark of inspiration brought Aerosmith to life. With the help of you, our dedicated blue army, that spark became a flame that has burned for over five decades. Some of you have been with us since the beginning, and all of you are the reason we made rock ‘n’ roll history,” the band said in a statement.

Last year, the 76-year-old Tyler injured his larynx, forcing the band to postpone the remainder of their Peace Out farewell tour. It seems that the legendary singer did not make a full recovery.

“We’ve always wanted to keep you glued to our live shows,” the announcement continues. “Steven’s voice is unique and he spent months working non-stop to restore it to its former state. Despite his efforts and the support of the best medical team, a full recovery was not possible.”

“With heartache and a heavy heart, we have decided as brothers and sisters to retire from touring,” Aerosmith added.

The band expressed their gratitude to everyone who bought tickets for the tour, their dedicated crew, their incredible team and the thousands of talented people who contributed to their historic journeys.

They closed their message by thanking “the best fans in the world. Play our music loud, now and forever. Dream On. You made our dreams come true.”

A career full of awards and successes

Aerosmith formed in 1970 in Boston, Massachusetts. The band’s original lineup included singer Steven Tyler, guitarist Joe Perry, bassist Tom Hamilton, guitarist Ray Tabano, and drummer Joey Kramer. Brad Whitford replaced Tabano in 1971, completing what would become known as the “classic” Aerosmith lineup.

The group became widely known in the early 1970s with the release of their first albums, which included hits such as ‘Dream On’ and ‘Sweet Emotion’. Their music combines elements of rock, blues and heavy metal, creating a unique sound that established them as one of the most important rock bands of their time.

Aerosmith enjoyed massive success in the 1980s with albums such as ‘Permanent Vacation’ and ‘Pump’, which contained hits such as ‘Love in an Elevator’, ‘Janie’s Got a Gun’ and ‘Dude (Looks Like a Lady)’. The band continued to release hit albums well into the 1990s, with ‘Get a Grip’ featuring songs such as ‘Cryin”, ‘Crazy’ and ‘Amazing’.

One of Aerosmith’s biggest achievements was the hit song ‘I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing’, which was written for the soundtrack of the movie ‘Armageddon’ and reached the top of the charts in 1998. Their career is full of awards , including four Grammy Awards and many other honors.

Aerosmith are known for their dynamic and energetic live performances, which have established their reputation as one of the top live acts in the world. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001, recognizing their immense influence and contribution to the music industry.

Despite the challenges and difficulties they faced during their career, including health problems and disagreements between members, Aerosmith remains one of the most beloved and respected bands in rock history. Their music continues to inspire and excite millions of fans worldwide.
