IBS Becomes Moment to Encourage Independent Indonesian Battery Ecosystem – 2024-08-05 20:21:55

The 2024 International Battery Summit (IBS) was held at the Mulia Senayan Hotel, Jakarta (DOK NBRI)

The National Battery Research Institute (NBRI) held the International Battery Summit (IBS) 2024 at the Mulia Senayan Hotel, Jakarta. IBS 2024 is a strategic event towards the Indonesia International Sustainable Forum (ISSF) 2024.

IBS 2024 will not only focus on technology, but also on the battery industry aspect. Participants will discuss how they can work together to create business opportunities and strategic alliances.

“Batteries may look small, but their role is very big, There is no energy transition without batteries. The two most important investments in the energy transition are renewable energy and battery energy storage systems,” said NBRI Founder Evvy Kartini as the organizer.

IBS 2024 (July 29-30) was attended by 70 speakers and 483 participants from 285 industries and institutions from 20 countries. IBS 2024 aims to foster a strong ecosystem for Indonesia’s growing battery industry, bringing together all key stakeholders in a joint effort to position Indonesia as a global leader in battery production and innovation.

It is stated that IBS 2024 serves as an important platform for industry leaders, government officials, researchers, and business professionals to gather and discuss the future of battery technology in Indonesia. With a focus on innovation, sustainability, and strategic growth, the meeting will feature a series of keynote presentations, panel discussions, and exhibitions showcasing the latest advances and trends in battery technology.

The meeting underlined the importance of building a strong and independent battery ecosystem in Indonesia, which will enable the country to become a leading player in the global market. By leveraging local resources and expertise, Indonesia aims to not only meet domestic demand but also export high-quality battery products to the international market.

“This multi-party collaboration and support reflects a shared vision to create a growing battery industry that benefits the nation and society,” said Evvy.

This international event is designed to be a comprehensive meeting of all stakeholders involved in the battery supply chain, from raw material suppliers to manufacturers and end users.

By bringing these diverse groups together, the meeting aims to facilitate dialogue, foster partnerships, and promote knowledge sharing. This collective effort is critical to ensuring that Indonesia can capitalize on its abundant natural resources, skilled workforce, and strategic geographic position.

Local talent

In line with Indonesia’s broader industrial goals, the summit aims to lay the foundation for a sustainable and resilient battery industry. This includes developing local talent, enhancing research and development capabilities, and implementing best practices in environmental and social governance. The ultimate goal is to make Indonesia a hub for battery innovation and production, creating job opportunities and driving economic growth.

Therefore, it is hoped that IBS 2024 with a discussion of the current conditions related to the global battery and electric vehicle industry will be an important event to present strategic alliances to provide business opportunities and collaboration to support Indonesia as an important player in the global battery industry.

This important event is a collaborative effort held in partnership with the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenkomarves), the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), and Pamerindo Indonesia. This event is also supported by various industries that are directly involved in making the event a success such as PT Ceria Nugraha Indotama, ThermoFisher Scientific, HIOKI Indonesia, PT Carsurin Tbk, Dayalima Group, Bank Mandiri, PT Indika Energy Tbk, Bank Mandiri, and Qauntel Chroma Group.
