Production unit in Portuguesa planted 46 hectares of white corn

The AGA Agricultural Production Unit in the state Portuguesa It has 46 hectares of white corn planted, a lot that is expected to be ready for the first half of next September.

This was reported by engineer Elvis Padilla during the Cultivando Patria program, hosted by the Minister of Productive Agriculture and Lands Wilmar Castro Soteldo and broadcast by VTV.

“We started this sowing last May, some weed controls were carried out to sow with a distance between rows of 45 centimeters. Furthermore, for every 10 meters we count 35 seeds to have a total of 85 thousand plants,” he explained.

The AGA Agricultural Production Unit, located in the Agua Blanca municipality, has a favorable climate that benefits planting, since in the entity it has rained enough for 90 percent of the corn to germinate.

“We even have plants with a harvest of four ears,” said the engineer.

Padilla estimated that the harvest will be between 8 to 9 thousand kilos of white corn per hectare, a batch that would be ready “for the first half of September 2024.”

For his part, the minister for Productive Agriculture and Lands, Wilmar Castro Soteldo, assured that the corn harvest from this production unit is destined for companies that produce pre-cooked corn flour.
