333 hp for the new VW Golf R and Golf Variant R

This compact speedster has long been one of the most sought-after VW models. More than 250,000 examples of the Golf R32 and its successors have been built and sold to date.

It was therefore only a matter of time before the Wolfsburg-based company would launch a particularly sporty version of the new VW Golf called the R. The new VW Golf R, which is available as a classic five-door and Variant, has a four-cylinder petrol engine with an output of 245 kW (333 hp) under the hood – which corresponds to an increase in power of 10 kW (14 hp) compared to the previous model.

The unbridled propulsion only ends at 250 km/h (where permitted) and can be increased to 270 km/h using the optional performance package. The 7-speed DSG transmission, all-wheel drive with torque vectoring, 18-inch forged wheels, a motorsport exhaust system, accelerometer and GPS lap timer for the race track are all standard on board.

Orders for the VW Golf R will start at the end of August, and prices will be available by then.
