The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigative team, Friday, questioned the Chairman of the Indonesian National Construction Implementation Association (Gapensi) Semarang, Martono (M) as a witness in the alleged corruption case in a procurement project within the Semarang City Government.

“Yes, Mr. M is present today to be questioned in the alleged corruption case regarding the procurement of goods or services within the Semarang City Government in 2023-2024, alleged extortion of civil servants related to incentives for collecting taxes and regional levies in Semarang City, and alleged receipt of gratuities in 2023-2024,” said KPK Spokesperson Tessa Mahardhika Sugiarto in Jakarta, today.

This examination is the second time Martono has been questioned by investigators as a witness in the investigation of alleged corruption in the Semarang City Government. Previously, Martono underwent examination on Wednesday (31/7).

The Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 announced the start of an investigation into alleged corruption in the procurement of goods or services within the Semarang City Government, Central Java.

“The investigation currently being conducted by the KPK is the alleged corruption in the procurement of goods or services within the Semarang City Government in 2023 to 2024, the alleged extortion of civil servants for incentives for collecting taxes and regional levies in the city of Semarang, and the alleged receipt of gratuities in 2023 to 2024,” said KPK Spokesperson Tessa Mahardika when confirmed in Jakarta, Wednesday.

KPK investigators have also named several parties as suspects in the case. However, they have not provided further information regarding the identities of the parties.

In accordance with KPK policy, the identity and construction of the non-corruption criminal case will be submitted after the investigation has been completed.

KPK investigators then immediately conducted searches of a number of agency offices and regional apparatus organizations (OPD) within the Semarang City Government.

The searches were carried out by KPK investigators at a number of Semarang City Government OPD offices, both in the City Hall complex and the Pandanaran Building.

Not only conducting searches, KPK investigators also asked for information from a number of Semarang City Government OPD leaders.

The KPK stated that the search was related to the handling of three alleged corruption cases within the Semarang City Government. (Ant/P-2)
