AEROSMITH, a legendary band that has carved out a long history in the music industry, has just announced their sudden retirement via social media.
The reason for this decision is the irreversible vocal injury suffered by their lead singer, Steven Tyler. The announcement was made last Friday on the band’s official social media accounts.
Steven Tyler suffered a vocal injury during a concert held in September last year.
Initially, Tyler was told he would be out of singing for 30 days, but as time went on, it turned out his injury was far more serious than expected.
This forced Aerosmith to postpone their farewell tour which was supposed to resume on September 20 in Pittsburgh, with several stops in major cities such as Philadelphia, Dallas, Denver, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Detroit, Chicago, and New York.
Additionally, they also planned a special show in their hometown on New Year’s Eve at TD Garden, Boston, which also had to be canceled due to Tyler’s worsening condition.

“We always want to amaze you when we perform. As you know, Steven’s voice is an instrument like no other. He has spent months tirelessly working to restore his voice to its pre-injury state. We have watched him struggle despite having the best medical team by his side. Unfortunately, it has become clear that a full recovery from his vocal injuries is not possible. We have made the heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision as a band to retire from touring,” Aerosmith’s official statement read.
In addition to vocal injury issues, Steven Tyler is also facing a lawsuit over allegations of sexual assault on a minor in the seventies.
The plaintiff, Julia Misley, accused Tyler of convincing her mother to give her custody of her so he could take Misley across state lines and have sex with her. Tyler denied the claims, and although a second woman sued him about a year later, that lawsuit was dropped earlier this year.
