German cyclist robbed by armed men in Lahore, case registered

Lahore The police said on Saturday that a tourist who came to Pakistan from Germany on a bicycle was robbed today by armed men in the limits of police station North Cantonment, whose case has been registered in the concerned police station.

According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Kent Owais Shafique, a 27-year-old named Berg Florian German The tourists were camping near the airport when suddenly two armed men came and started beating them, for which they lodged a complaint at the North Cantonment police station.

The victim, a German national, told the police that the armed men fled with his mobile phone, cash and a camera worth five lakh Pakistani rupees.

According to eyewitnesses, they rushed the German tourist to the Rangers Hospital, where he was given medical attention.

SP Cant Owais Shafique told Independent Urdu that ‘the accused are being traced with the help of CCTV cameras and other means. Strict action will be taken against the elements who spoil the reputation of the country.

He said that a case is being registered against two unknown accused in the complaint of the victim German citizen and a team under the leadership of SDP North Kent has been formed to arrest the accused.

According to SP Kent: ‘The affected citizens had reached Lahore on a bicycle from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa two days ago.’

German tourist also has German passport, Pakistani visa and other necessary documents.

According to Pakistani laws, any foreign tourist is allowed to enter the country after completing the necessary documents and then reporting to the police authorities of the city he/she is visiting, after which the police Provides complete security to foreign tourists.

According to the police, the affected tourist did not give any information to the Lahore police, he was having fun on his own and was camping on the side of the road and sleeping when this incident happened.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Mohammad Faisal Kamran has asked SP Cantt for a report on the incident involving the German tourist and directed to ensure the immediate arrest of the accused.
