Two people tried to commit suicide in less than 36 hours in Merida

Between the afternoon of Thursday 1st and the evening of Friday 2nd August, two people attempted to commit suicide on the Miranda Viaduct in the city of Mérida, according to crime news reports.

The first incident occurred on Thursday afternoon, when a young woman of approximately 25 years of age jumped into the void, surviving.

The lady was treated by the Mérida Firefighters who transferred her to the Autonomous Institute of the University Hospital of Los Andes, where she was treated by doctors.

The second case occurred on Friday night when a 34-year-old man, resident in El Arenal, tried to jump into the void from the Miranda viaduct. He was rescued by Civil Protection officials from the Libertador municipality and the ULA Fire Department, who took him to the Autonomous Institute of the Los Andes University Hospital.
