After a cooler start to the week, midsummer returns

Temperatures well above 30 degrees are expected again. But constant sweating is not on the cards. A cold front will temporarily arrive on Thursday, but will not bring about a lasting change in the weather, Geosphere Austria predicted at the weekend.

Am Montag The weather is still changeable. Especially east of the Salzburg – Lienz line in East Tyrol, there are still some local rain showers with some dense clouds. As the day progresses, the weather improves, the clouds become less and the risk of showers decreases by the evening. In the west and south of the main Alpine ridge, it remains dry more often. In addition to some dense clouds, the sun also shines from time to time. The wind is light to moderate from the northwest to the north. Early temperatures: 14 to 20 degrees, with daily highs reaching 23 to 28 degrees.

Am Tuesday There will initially be some residual clouds or patches of fog, particularly in the mountains and in the south. Otherwise, sunshine will predominate from early in the morning. In the afternoon, cumulus clouds will form, particularly along and south of the main Alpine ridge, followed by isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. The wind will be light, sometimes moderate, from the northwest to the east. In the morning, temperatures will range from seven to 17 degrees, and in the afternoon from 23 to 31 degrees.

Up to 33 degrees on Wednesday

The Wednesday begins with a few remaining clouds, particularly in the southwest. Otherwise the sun shines quite frequently. In the afternoon, cumulus clouds form, followed by a few thunderstorms or rain showers, particularly in the west and southwest. Away from the thunderstorms, the wind is light to moderate and comes from different directions. In the morning, temperatures range from nine to 18 degrees, in the afternoon from 26 to 33 degrees.

A cold front then crosses Thursday Austria. Along and north of the Alps and in the east, clouds and sunny periods will alternate, and some rain showers and thunderstorms are also expected. It will probably stay dry in the lowlands of the east. In the course of the afternoon, showers and thunderstorms will become less frequent in these regions. In the south, sunshine will often prevail for the time being. In the afternoon, cumulus clouds will form, followed by a few thunderstorms. The wind will be light to moderate, and brisk in the north, east and in thunderstorms, from the south to the northwest. Early temperatures will be between 13 and 22 degrees, and afternoon temperatures between 25 and 32 degrees.
