This is one of the main questions that Cubans have asked following the announcement of new measures for the sale of vehicles in Cuba.
Let us remember that the Cuban Minister of Transport reported that diplomatic collaborators and personnel working in missions abroad will be able, at the end of their mission, to bring a vehicle to Cuba purchased with their income and resources that they receive as part of their work in the mission.
“These imports will be in accordance with the regulations that will be drawn up by the organizations to which they belong,” accurate.
He also said that vehicles that remain available on the national market, either because they have finished their exploitation in the tourism sector or because they are no longer in use in other entities and are in good technical condition, will be sold based on priorities established within the framework of the economic plan.
“Until now, a portion of these vehicles were intended for sale in freely convertible currency. There is a decision that these vehicles will only be imported in freely convertible currency and that they will be sold in national currency for different government priorities. In other words, it is not a free sale, it is a sale in accordance with the economic plan,” he explained.
Will Cuban collaborators have priority for cars in national currency?
In this regard, a user asked on Facebook: “I would like to see the cars that will be sold in national currency valued in that section for those of us who are working in the country and have contributed many years of service in medical missions, especially in Venezuela, where our payment was in pesos.”
Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila assured him that “among the destinations of these vehicles is the incentive for people from different sectors, depending on availability. This has been planned,” he added.
Likewise, the head of Transportation in Cuba responded to another user that “taxis remain among the priorities in the destination of these vehicles.”
