Maduro after casting his vote: “I recognize and will recognize the referee”

Nicolás Maduro went to the polling station located at the “Simón Rodríguez” Ecological School in Caracas to exercise his right to vote on July 28. After voting, Maduro said that there had been no electoral incident and that he was the only candidate being persecuted.

The candidate for re-election said on Sunday that he will respect the results of the elections issued at the end of the day by the National Electoral Council (CNE) and called on his nine contenders to make a public commitment to this issue.

«I recognize and will recognize the referee, the official bulletins, and I will ensure that they are respected. The electoral referee’s word will be holy and I call on the 10 presidential candidates, the 38 political parties, to publicly declare that they will respect the official bulletin of the organization.“the president told reporters after voting in western Caracas.

He reiterated what he had said throughout the campaign: that his candidacy is “the only guarantee of peace” in the country.

Maduro declared that if he is re-elected in the 2024 Presidential Elections, his objective will be to unite the country, deepen economic, social, cultural and political dialogue, as well as build new consensus so that the nation has a solid plan for the future.

He also urged all Venezuelans to go out and vote and wait in peace for the official results from the National Electoral Council (CNE): “I’m sure everything will turn out well and tomorrow will be a nice day.”.
