MEXICO CITY (El Universal).— Senator Xóchitl Gálvez Ruiz, former presidential candidate for the opposition front, asked the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Branch of the Federation (Tepjf) to first resolve all the complaints filed with the National Electoral Institute (INE) before issuing the qualification of the election held on June 2.
The former presidential candidate met with magistrates Janine Otálora and Reyes Mondragón, after the Tepjf announced that the draft resolution would be published on Wednesday, July 24.
“Of course we will find out on Wednesday, but what I continue to point out here is that how can we have a project if all the complaints at the INE are not resolved,” he said.
“They themselves know the agreement from six years ago which states that elections cannot be qualified without resolving all the complaints. I suppose that once they know the project they will have to argue among themselves. And I will surely ask for an appointment with the sixth magistrate who has already been appointed to also make arguments and close this process,” said Gálvez Ruiz in an interview with the media.
Regarding the change of dates, the former candidate for the Presidency of Mexico pointed out that Claudia Valle Aguilasocho (sixth and last magistrate of the Superior Chamber of the Tepjf) surely knows the exact date.
“Surely she does have the real program because we still don’t have it. I mean, I don’t know the exact dates. The day I was with the substantiation committee, we couldn’t get a calendar. That calendar is not available, but surely here they treat her and me unequally; that information was not given to me,” Xóchitl said.
Ms. Gálvez Ruiz also said that the calendar is not clear and has not been published in the Official Gazette of the Federation.
