Kevin Mayer, the chief executive officer of TikTok, an increasingly popular social media application around the world, has resigned from his position.
Kevin Mayer says his role as head of the video-sharing platform extends far beyond his management powers as the company battles Washington, according to foreign news agencies.
The chief executive’s decision to leave the company comes days after TikTok filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration against an executive order barring the video-sharing app from doing business in the United States.
Two days ago, the Tik Tok administration reached the court against the restrictions in the United States, where the decision of the US President Donald Trump was challenged in the California court.
In the petition filed by TikTok, the US President’s decision was described as part of an anti-China campaign and alleged that Trump wants to win re-election with an anti-China narrative.
Tik Tok management further said that it has taken extraordinary measures to protect the privacy and security of user data.
Earlier, ByteDance, the company that owns the video app TikTok, decided to approach the court against US President Donald Trump in reaction to the ban on its app in the US.
President Trump, through an executive order on August 7, banned all transactions with ByteDance, the company that owns Tik Tok. The order said that the United States would have to take aggressive action against the owners of TikTok in view of national security.
