Since July 29, protests have been taking place across the country against the CNE results, which declared President Nicolás Maduro the winner of the July 28 presidential elections.

The protests were mostly initiated by citizens who decided to bang pots and pans from home or take to the streets with flags and banners to show their discontent with the CNE announcement.

On Tuesday, June 30, citizen assemblies were also held throughout the country, convened by opposition leader María Corina Machado and the candidate of the Democratic Unity Platform (PUD) Edmundo González. After these political rallies, protests continued in the form of demonstrations and cacerolazos throughout the country.
