Paris 2024 is the first Olympics with strict equality between men and women. The first time women participated in the Olympics dates back to 1912: at that time, female athletes accounted for only 2% of the participants. Until 2000, women were still excluded from certain events, such as weightlifting, pole vaulting or the hammer throw.

The Paris Olympics also include something new when it comes to parent-child relationships, as if the Olympic Village remains closed to children, certain athletes, mothers and fathers will be able to stay in touch with their babies, thanks to a special system.
