Senior citizens received ophthalmological care in Central

Central, IP.- Some 60 senior citizens from San Antonio and 46 from Fernando de la Mora benefited from these days of care, which took place at the “María Auxiliadora” chapel in the city of San Antonio and the “Virgen de Fátima” Senior Citizens Association in Fernando de la Mora.

Professionals who work with senior citizens maintain that this is the stage of life when eye health needs to be taken care of the most, as fatigue and wear and tear on many of the body’s organs are accentuated.

Cataract symptoms are most frequently detected in ophthalmological consultations, especially in these types of care sessions, where elderly people who do not regularly attend medical check-ups attend.

These activities are carried out within the framework of the Program for the Promotion of Health and Prevention of Disease in Older Adults, of the Directorate of Older Adults of the Social Welfare Institute, with the support of the Eye Health Program, responding to one of the central objectives of the national government.
