Relatives of detainees demand more information

**Relatives and representatives of the people arrested during the protests on July 29 in the San Jacinto roundabout, Maracay, Aragua state, are uncertain as they do not have more information about the process against them.**

The official figure from the authorities is more than 80 people arrested, who have been taken to different police stations since last Monday.

According to lawyers in the region who are trying to form part of the defense of those accused, there are also a significant number of minors.

As the wait drags on in front of the Palace of Justice, relatives do not know what charges will be brought against them, nor have they had any contact with them to provide support or find out about their health and physical condition.

A mother, who preferred not to give her name, described the anguish she experienced while searching for her 26-year-old son, who has been missing since Monday.

After visiting several police stations, without obtaining answers about his whereabouts, he was finally found yesterday at the CICPC Central Station in sector 9 of Caña de Azúcar, in MBI.

She was informed that her relative was there and would be brought before the corresponding court along with other detainees. Since early in the morning, this elderly woman and relatives of other people arrested in the demonstrations had been waiting outside the Palace of Justice, waiting for news and bringing food.

With a voice breaking from the anguish that gripped her, this mother expressed her concern at not knowing where her son would be sent. “I heard rumors that older children like him would be transferred to Tocorón and younger children to Sapanna, but these are just rumors, all that remains is to wait.”

DEMANDING RELEASE

Meanwhile, in Caracas, Dr. Victor Rago, rector of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV), demanded that authorities release six students from his institution.

“They were arbitrarily detained for participating in protests that I consider understandable and supported by the Constitution of the Republic,” Rago emphasized.

He expressed his concern about acts like these “that violate democracy and the freedom to protest peacefully and civilly.”
